Do you have a Garmin watch and want every step to count on Macadam?
Since Macadam doesn't connect directly to the watch's data, we use a "bridge" approach. By syncing your Garmin data to your phone’s health ecosystem, Macadam can automatically pick up your steps.
Here is your step-by-step guide.
🍎 For iPhone Users (iOS)
On iOS, everything flows through the Apple Health app.
Step 1: Link Garmin Connect to Apple Health
Open the Garmin Connect app.
Tap More (bottom right) > Settings > Connected Apps.
Select Apple Health and tap Update Health Settings.
Switch "Turn On All" to the ON position.
Step 2: Set Garmin as the Priority Source
To ensure Macadam counts your watch steps instead of your phone's movements,
Open Apple Health > Browse > Activity > Steps.
Scroll to the bottom and tap Data Sources & Access.
Tap Edit (top right) and drag Garmin Connect to the very top of the list.
🤖 For Android Users
Macadam allows you to choose your data source. Here are the three best ways to bridge your Garmin data, from the most reliable to the best "free hack."
Option 1: Health Connect: The New Google Hub for Your Steps
This is the most reliable method for Android 14+ users.
In Garmin Connect, go to Settings > Connected Apps > Health Connect.
Tap Get Started and toggle "Allow All" to ON.
In Macadam, go to Settings and select Health Connect as your Step Source.
Option 2: The Direct Bridge – Google Fit
If you don't have access to Health Connect, you can use the classic Google Fit app:
In Garmin Connect, go to Settings > Connected Apps.
Select Google Fit and follow the prompts to link your account.
In Macadam, select Google Fit as your source in the settings.
💡 Pro-Tips for Success
The Daily "Push": Garmin only sends data to your phone when the app is open. Open Garmin Connect once a day to ensure your steps are "pushed" to your phone's health app before the midnight reset.
Check the "Green Circle": Always ensure your watch has finished syncing (the green circle in Garmin Connect is complete) before checking your steps.
