By connecting your bank account to Macadam via our partner Powens, you gain access to personalized cashback offers for online and in-store purchases. You can enable this feature from the settings or through the cashback section. Each eligible purchase made through your connected bank account automatically gives you a reward added to your balance in Macadam.
Simply shop at your favorite online or physical stores as usual. If they're one of our partners, you'll automatically earn coins.
📌 Can I use automatic cashback without connecting my bank account?
Connecting your bank account is necessary to activate automatic cashback and access personalized offers. However, you can still use Macadam to explore available offers without connecting your account and use classic online cashback without connecting your bank.
🆚 What is the difference between cashback and automatic cashback?
Only offers in the "Automatic cashback" category are eligible to automatic cashback. You can recognize these offers by the specific symbol 🔄 and filter the results to only view those offers.
For regular online cashback offers, your click on the merchant website needs to be detected through our app or mobile Safari extension, and cookies must be accepted. The delay of validation depends on the condition of the offer set by the partner.
Automatic cashback is a simpler method to earn rewards. Eligible transactions via your connected bank account are detected automatically, and cashback rewards are added to your Macadam account faster.

If you’re having trouble linking your bank account to Macadam, it’s usually down to a few specific security settings or account conflicts. Macadam uses Powens as a secure partner to handle connections across eligible countries (currently France, Spain, and Belgium).
If your account won’t sync, or if it appears inactive even after you’ve granted all necessary permissions, follow these steps to resolve the issue:
1. Contact Your Bank Regarding Security Restrictions
Some banks have strict internal security protocols that can prevent third-party apps from accessing your data. You should contact your bank to verify the following:
Third-Party Access: Ensure that "Open Banking" or "Third-Party Provider (TPP)" access is enabled for your account.
Data Sharing Permissions: Some banks require you to manually toggle an option in your banking app to allow the sharing of transaction history.
Security Blocks: Ask if there is an active security block preventing Powens from retrieving your payment history.
2. Check for Existing Cashback Conflicts
Most banking systems only allow a bank account to be linked to one cashback provider at a time.
If your account is already synchronized with another cashback app or a loyalty program offered directly by your bank, the connection to Macadam will likely fail.
To fix this, you may need to disconnect your account from the other service before trying again with Macadam.

📆 How does it work if I have a deferred debit card?
Unlike purchases made with an immediate debit card, transactions made with a deferred debit card will only appear in your Macadam account at the time of your bank’s monthly withdrawal, typically at the beginning of the month.
⏳ How long does it take for my reward to appear on my account?
Cashback rewards can take up to 72 hours after the purchase to appear in your coin's balance. If it doesn't show up within this time frame, please contact our customer support.
