⚠️ Since November 2, 2026, Google has stopped the service that allowed Macadam to get your Fitbit steps directly. Don't worry: you can keep using your Fitbit watch by going through Health Connect.
How it works
Your Fitbit watch keeps counting your steps. They simply go through Health Connect, which then sends them to Macadam.
💡 Google Health and Health Connect are two different apps, both made by Google:
Google Health (Fitbit) is your Fitbit app with a new name. You don't need to download anything else.
Health Connect lets your health apps share their data. On Android 14 and up, it's already built into your phone settings. On Android 9 to 13, download it from the Play Store.
Step 1: Turn on Health Connect in Google Health
Open the Google Health (Fitbit) app 📱
At the top left, tap Connections, then Partner apps.
Under "Add connections", tap Sync your favorite health apps, then Set up.
Then allow Google Health to share your steps with Health Connect and tap Allow ✅
Step 2: Choose Health Connect in Macadam
Open Macadam, tap your Profile (bottom right), then the Settings gear ⚙️
Select Step source, then Health Connect.
Turn on access to Steps and Physical Activity, then tap Allow 👣
🎉 That's it! Your Fitbit steps will show up in Macadam within a few minutes. Remember to open Macadam every evening before midnight to convert your steps into Coins.
Your steps still don't show up?
Open Google Health and pull the screen down to sync your watch.
Check that Google Health is allowed to share your steps in Health Connect.
Check that Health Connect is selected as your step source in Macadam.
Restart your phone, then open Macadam again.
