Do you have a Huawei watch/band and want every step to count on Macadam?
Since Macadam doesn't connect directly to the watch's data, we use a "bridge" approach. By syncing your Huawei to your phone’s health ecosystem, Macadam can automatically pick up your steps.
Here is your step-by-step guide.
🍎 For iPhone Users (iOS)
To connect your Huawei watch to the Apple Health app, you need to authorize data sharing from the settings within the HUAWEI Health app. The synchronization does not happen directly from the watch but rather through Huawei's mobile application.
Step 1: Pair the watch with the iPhone.
Download and open the HUAWEI Health app from the App Store.
Log in using your Huawei ID.
Go to the Devices tab, tap Add, and select your watch model to complete the Bluetooth pairing.
Step 2: Enable sharing with Apple Health
In the HUAWEI Health app, go to the Me (your profile) tab in the bottom right corner.
Scroll down and select Settings.
Tap Data Sharing.
Select Apple Health from the list.
An iOS system pop-up window will open. Tap Turn On All and confirm in the top right corner.
Step 3: Manage priorities in Apple Health (If data is not displaying)
If your steps or workouts are not syncing correctly, Apple Health might be giving priority to your iPhone's internal sensors.
Open the Apple Health app.
Go to a data category (Steps).
Scroll down and tap Data Sources & Access.
Tap Edit in the top right corner, then drag HUAWEI Health to the very top of the list to give it highest priority.
💡 Note: If you encounter difficulties syncing specific workouts due to iOS background restrictions, specialized third-party apps like Health Connect or Health Sync on the App Store can be used to force an automated and more stable transfer of your history.
🤖 For Android Users
Macadam allows you to choose your data source. Please select the Health Connect step source first.
Connecting a Huawei watch to Google Health Connect requires a third-party bridge app, as Huawei Health is not compatible with Google services. The most reliable method is using the Health Sync app.
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Install Required Apps: Ensure you have Huawei Health installed and properly paired with your watch. Then, download and install the Health Sync app from the Google Play Store.
Set Up Health Sync: Open Health Sync, accept the terms, and select Huawei Health Kit as your base sync source.
Connect to Health Connect: When prompted to choose a target app, select Google Health Connect (or Google Fit, which bridges to Health Connect).
Grant Permissions: Follow the on-screen prompts to allow Health Sync to read your Huawei Health data and write it to Health Connect.
Sync Data: Tap the Sync button in the Health Sync app to complete the internal sync. Your watch's activity, sleep, and heart rate data will now flow through to Health Connect.
